Our quiet, comfortable, if dull world all changed in 1988 when, through a chain of bizarre coincidences, we obtained our first Tervuren. We had original thought to find a hobby for Sally and focus on obedience and maybe try the breed ring if the dog was show quality. Well, it turned out that CH Sharvonne Drakkar Noir CD was a catalyst for much more. Sally found out that the conformation ring was a lot more fun then she had thought it would be and Dragon was able to introduce us to not only the breed ring but the Group ring as well. Bob, meanwhile, enjoyed the obedience training and showing. As many Tervuren owners will attest to, these dogs will take you to places you never imagine going. We had no thoughts about herding and agility but sure enough, the past years have found us in both arenas. The only thing that stops us from investigating tracking is time - something we hope to find more of this year.
It has ended up being much more than a hobby. The Tervuren have come in to our home and changed everything - Sally has constant companions during the day and we have the enjoyment of getting out on weekends with them for training and showing, many times traveling to places we would never have thought to visit if not for the dogs.
They have added an immeasurable amount of laughter and love and yes, a few tears as well.
